The Advantages and Disadvantages of a Refrigerating Dehumidifier
Refrigerating dehumidifier (also known as condensation dehumidifier) is a common dehumidifier. Its advantages and disadvantages are as follows:
1. Advantages:
1) High-efficiency dehumidification(high temperature and high humidity environment)
When the temperature>15 ℃ and relative humidity>60%, the highest efficiency and fast dehumidification occur. Suitable for humid warehouse, basement, housing etc in summer.
2) Better Energy-Saving
The EER (COP) usually is 2.5 ~ 4.0, saves more power than the wheel desiccant dehumidifier(based on the same dehumidifying capacity).
3) Low Cost
The cost of purchase and maintenance are much lower than the wheel desiccant dehumidifier, affordable for the users who have limited budgets.
4) Easy to Operate
One-touch start, no complicated settings, most models support automatic humidity control.
5) Multi-Function Integrated
Some of the models with air purification or auxiliary cooling function.
2. Disadvantages:
1) Poor effect at a low temperature site

When the ambient temperature<10 ° C, the evaporator is easily to be frosted, and frequent defrosting is required, and the dehumidification efficiency plummets or even fails.

2) Humidity's Down Level is Limited
Cannot make the humidity < 40% RH, not suitable for precision instrument workshop etc and low humidity requirements.
3) Water Drainage or a Drainpipe is Necessary

The condensate must be collected or an external drainpipe must be connected. The installation position is limited.

4) Noise
When the compressors running, the noise gets 45 ~ 55 dB, unfriendly to the places where mute is required.

4. Models Suggestions

Complementary measures:

Electric heater can be installed to prevent frost in low temperature environment.

If for high precision requirements, need to be combined with wheel desiccant dehumidifier grading.

5. Summary: The refrigerating dehumidifier is highly efficient and low cost in high temperature and high humidity environment, but the performance is poor and the humidity range is limited. Wheel desiccant dehumidifier makes up for its shortcomings, but the price is higher. Make a selection based on the actual temperature and humidity requirements.
