Benefits of Refrigerant Dehumidifiers

Improved Indoor Air Quality
Excessive humidity can lead to stale and musty air, which can be unpleasant to breathe. By reducing humidity levels, refrigerant dehumidifiers help improve indoor air quality, making your home a more comfortable and inviting space.

Allergy and Asthma Relief
For individuals with allergies or asthma, high humidity levels can trigger symptoms and exacerbate respiratory conditions. By maintaining optimal humidity, dehumidifiers can alleviate allergy and asthma-related issues, providing much-needed relief.

Odor Control
Moisture-rich environments often harbor unpleasant odors. Refrigerant dehumidifiers effectively combat this issue by reducing humidity levels, thus eliminating the root cause of foul odors and creating a fresh-smelling home.

Preservation of Furniture and Possessions
Excess moisture in the air can cause irreversible damage to furniture, electronics, and other possessions. By maintaining ideal humidity levels, dehumidifiers help preserve the longevity and quality of your valuable belongings.

Energy Efficiency
Contrary to popular belief, dehumidifiers can contribute to energy efficiency. By reducing humidity levels, your air conditioning system doesn't need to work as hard, resulting in potential energy savings and lower utility bills.

Frequently Asked Questions about Industrial Refrigerant Dehumidifier

Q: How does a refrigerant dehumidifier work?

A: Refrigerant dehumidifiers work in a similar way to a refrigerator. They usually work by drawing moist air over a refrigerated coil with a fan. The cold evaporator coil of the refrigeration device condenses the water, which is removed, and then the air is reheated by the condenser coil. The now dehumidified, warm air is released into the room.

Q: What's the difference between office and industrial dehumidifiers?

A: Industrial dehumidifiers are more durable and provide higher water-removal capacity than office dehumidifiers. Industrial dehumidifiers are also specifically designed to manage the humidity levels in a large commercial space and help support construction work or water damage restoration.

Q: How long does it take a dehumidifier to work?

A: Depending on the size of the area, a dehumidifier can take anywhere from a few hours for smaller and medium single rooms to up to 10-12 hours for larger spaces. Most units have a built-in humidistat that can be set to maintain a specific humidity level.

Q: Where is the best place to put a dehumidifier?

A: The best location for your dehumidifier depends on where the excess humidity exists, whether it's in a living area, basement or crawl space. Use a humidistat or hygrometer to assess the humidity level in the space and find the best location. Many dehumidifiers can safely be placed against walls. However, if you do not have top-mounted discharge, place the dehumidifier away from walls and furniture, so air can freely circulate around the unit. Make sure to keep any drain hoses away from electrical cords or connections.

Q: What is capacity of industrial dehumidifier?

A: The capacity of an industrial dehumidifier is measured in pints per day (PPD) and is based on the amount of moisture it can remove from the air. The larger your space, the higher the capacity you will need. Consider the size of your facility, the humidity levels, and the number of employees or workers. It is best to choose a dehumidifier that can handle more than the required capacity to prevent overloading the unit.

Q: How do you size an industrial dehumidifier?

A: 1)Determine the cubic feet inside the enclosure, this is 30 feet X 25 feet X 20 feet and come up with 15,000 cubic feet
2)Multiply by the Air Changes per hour required to keep the RH% under 50. If the containment is tight use 2-3 changes, if its loose with air-leaks, use 4 changes per hour. We can just go ahead and multiply that by 4, because we know 4 air-changes every hour will be sufficient. Take the 15,000 and multiply by 4 and you get 60,000 Cubic Feet Per Hour
3)Convert Cubic Feet Per Hour to Cubic feet per minute. To get the CFM, cubic feet per minute, (which is how these machines are rated), we're just going to divide that number by 60 (sixty minutes in an hour, right?). This comes out to 1,000. So that's it!

Q: Do refrigerant dehumidifiers give off heat?

A: Yes, dehumidifiers naturally create a small amount of heat as they operate. But most customers don't notice it for a few reasons:
 (1) it's a very slight increase and
(2) since dehumidifiers remove moisture from rooms, they naturally make rooms feel cooler and more comfortable.

Q: How loud are refrigerant dehumidifiers?

A: Due to the compressor in compressor dehumidifiers, they are quite loud when running. They can operate at noise levels of over 45dB whereas desiccant dehumidifiers can operate as low as 35dB.

Q: What happens if you don't clean your dehumidifier?

A: Dehumidifiers store water, and if not properly cleaned, this water can eventually lead to mold growth, both in the reservoir or in the interior of the machine. If the dehumidifier uses a hose, this hose can also contain mold. Cleaning the dehumidifier can also enhance overall efficiency.

Q: How much water should a dehumidifier collect in a day?

A: A dehumidifier should collect a certain amount of water each day-generally, around 10-20 pints of water per 24-hour period. This should require you to empty most dehumidifiers daily or bi-daily when in operation. However, how much water a dehumidifier collects and how often they need to be emptied can vary depending on the size of the room, the relative humidity levels, and other factors.
